LONDON, England — October 6, 2026 — RealHedgehog Ltd, a UK-based software company, announced on Tuesday the launch of Spike AI, a video clipping tool that converts long-form videos, streams and podcasts into short vertical clips for social media platforms.
The tool accepts a YouTube, Twitch or X link, a direct video link, or an uploaded video file. According to the company, Spike AI transcribes the submitted video, identifies segments based on hooks, payoff and pacing, and ranks the resulting clips using a proprietary scoring system. The software automatically reframes content to a 9:16 aspect ratio and adds animated captions. An optional speaker tracking feature keeps the active speaker in frame.
Users can download individual clips or full batches. Output is formatted for TikTok, YouTube, Instagram Reels, X and Twitch. Paid plans include style presets, word-by-word caption editing, custom branding, higher video limits and channel watching features that automatically process new uploads. A free tier provides three clips and does not require a credit card.
RealHedgehog said the project forms part of a broader effort to build software that reduces manual editing work for creators and small teams. The company estimates the current project value at approximately $1 million.
"Spike AI is built to help users get more short-form content from videos they already have without spending hours searching timelines and cutting clips by hand," said Jane Doe, a spokesperson for RealHedgehog. "The platform handles the clipping workflow from transcription to final export."
RealHedgehog Ltd develops AI video clipping tools. The company said its long-term goal is to expand its software offerings for online content creation.
