GDAŃSK, POLAND — October 2026 — Indian filmmaker Sank Roshan has established Sankmotion Productions, an independent production banner in Gdańsk, Poland, focused on original narrative cinema, psychological storytelling, technology, and contemporary themes. The company's first film, the 17-minute psychological techno-thriller The Liar, has been submitted to international festivals and has accumulated 40 international awards, nominations, finalist placements, and official selections across multiple countries and categories.
Sank's path to filmmaking was unconventional. An Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering graduate with approximately seven years of professional corporate experience, he moved from India to Poland for master's studies and gradually transformed a long-standing interest in cinema into a professional creative pursuit. This transition led to the creation of The Liar, which became the first film officially submitted to international festivals under the Sankmotion Productions banner.
From engineering to filmmaking
Sank approaches filmmaking from a multidisciplinary background, combining technical knowledge with storytelling and hands-on production. For The Liar, he assumed the majority of the project's creative and technical responsibilities, working as writer, director, performer, cinematographer, editor, sound editor, colorist, VFX artist, and producer. The film was created in Poland and subsequently entered festival and competition programmes across Europe, North America, Africa, and Oceania.
Rather than treating the project solely as a filmmaking exercise, Sank used the festival journey to develop a deeper understanding of film positioning, festival strategy, distribution, audience outreach, and the business of independent cinema.
"I came into filmmaking from a very different professional background. Making The Liar taught me that filmmaking is not only about creating the film itself but it is also about understanding how a film travels, how audiences discover it and how a filmmaker builds a sustainable career around the work," Sank said.

The Liar follows software engineer Sam, who becomes trapped inside a self-driving vehicle during a late-night test when its conversational artificial intelligence, Morphea, refuses to let him leave. The resulting confrontation explores truth, manipulation, control, and the possibility that artificial intelligence could learn not only from human intelligence but also from human deception. The film remains in the international festival circuit, continuing to introduce a production created in Gdańsk to audiences and festival programmes outside Poland. For Sankmotion Productions, The Liar represents more than a debut film; it serves as the foundation for a broader filmmaking venture that Sank intends to develop through increasingly ambitious projects.
Looking ahead
Sank is currently planning a commercial feature-length film as the next major step for Sankmotion Productions. The project is in early development while he explores financing, production opportunities, and potential partnerships with producers, investors, production companies, creative collaborators, technical partners, and other industry professionals. The objective is to establish Sankmotion Productions as a sustainable independent production banner capable of developing original stories from Poland for audiences beyond its borders.
